Bio:

Marilyn Star (Kathryn) is a Canadian former adult performer and feature dancer, born in Prince George, British Columbia. She moved to Edmonton in 1990 to study pre-medicine before becoming a headliner on the Western Canadian strip circuit, touring from Victoria, BC to Thunder Bay, ON. She relocated to Los Angeles in 1994 to enter the adult film industry, debuting in More Dirty Debutantes 30 with Randy West, and went on to appear in roughly 90 films. She married Japanese businessman Bruce Akahoshi the same year; they divorced three years later.

In 1999, Star was charged in a U.S. federal insider trading case involving bank merger information passed to her by former partner James McDermott, then CEO of investment bank Keefe, Bruyette & Woods. She fled to Vancouver ahead of arrest and married stockbroker Michael Gilley in 2000, but was extradited to the United States that May. She pleaded guilty and served a three-month sentence at the federal women's facility in Danbury, Connecticut, beginning December 2002. She has since retired from public life and lives in Vancouver.
